Wisdom Circles

“I found The Wisdom Circle a safe and incredibly valuable place of self discovery and support . It opened doors for me I may not have walked through alone”

— Marina, Brisbane, Australia

The idea of wisdom circles comes from a long held tradition in many many cultures  of people gathering together, in common purpose, to discover the best way forward. When people of good intention gather together for a purpose, the insights that arise often exceed the simple sum of the wisdom of individuals involved.

The purpose of the Wisdom Circles we have developed is to facilitate, support and protect the self enquiry of those involved and to help open the doors to the wisdom within that exists in every person. These particular circles are not designed to solve an external or social problem directly, but to provide an environment where each individual has the support and internal space to discover what is most important for their own life.

For more information please fill in the enquiry form at the bottom of this page and I will send you more details and set up a complimentary appointment with you to discuss the possibilities further.

How Wisdom Circles Work

There are some simple understandings and values that lie at the foundation of our Wisdom Circles.  They are:

  • There is a wisdom within every human being. Though sometimes undiscovered or sporadically accessed, this wisdom is fundamental to our happiness, wellbeing, and agency in life.

  • We humans are aware. Beyond, and in spite of all our differences, we share this awareness.

  • A quality of this awareness we all share is wisdom, where wisdom in this case means, a capacity to experience a perspective that supports our individual greatest good, and the greatest good for others.

  • When humans gather together with the common purpose of accessing and abiding with the awareness and wisdom within, that support increases the likelihood for each individual’s discovery of such awareness and wisdom.

  • Turning our attention towards our awareness is the key to our own peace within and to peace in the world.

  • Love is the experience of our shared being, our shared awareness.

  • Discovering and learning to abide in our awareness and the consequent wisdom, is central and impactful on every aspect of our lives. This means that this work is not separate from our relationships, our work, our play, our politics, our health, our society. It is not separate, it is foundational.

  • It is worth spending our time and our focus discovering the wisdom within.

The Guidelines Of Wisdom Circles

Wisdom Circles are purpose driven. They are specific in their intent to support and facilitate the discovery of, and the ongoing access to, the wisdom within each individual who participates.

We have incorporated principles, rules and guidelines from ancient wisdom paths and latter day examples to ensure the highest level of experience for each person who participates in the circle.

These guidelines are:

  • We seek to create a safe, confidential and openhearted space for each individual to speak, to listen, and to be silent when they need. Participation is by choice and that ongoing choosing is honoured.

  • The way we interact is always respectful, and we seek to avoid, purposefully and painstakingly, fixing, correcting or saving any other person in the circle.

  • Though we will talk together and participate in activities together, the focus of your “work” in the circle is twofold:

    • To attend to listening to yourself for the whispers and insights of your wisdom within.

    • To be of service to each other person in the circle. This service will most often be in the form of deep and focused listening.

  • Absolute confidentiality. The path of listening for and attending to our wisdom within requires vulnerability, honesty and an opening heart. This path is protected by the knowledge that what you say or do, or what others share, will never be passed on to anyone without clear and explicit permission.
