    Ian

Welcome to the first Clear Mind newsletter for 2007! This year is going to be an exciting year for the Clear Mind family. To start off the New Year I have implemented this new look newsletter and upgraded the Clear Mind website (www.theclearmindway.com). Don't forget to forward it on to a friend if you think they could be interested in the information in it (see special link at bottom of page).

This year I plan to hold several workshops and weekend retreats; start meditation nights and produce new meditation CD's. Stay tuned for more information and best wishes for a fantastic 2007.

    Kind regards

    Ian Haycroft

    This Month's Reading
    Horses Talking

I am reading a wonderful book right now that I recommend to anyone who either loves horses, or wants insight into human beings entitled "Horses Talking – How to share healing messages with the horses in your life" by Margrit Coates. The author is a British woman who has an amazing reputation for healing horses. My daughters have horses and there is no doubt that there is a spiritual connection between them and their animals. Margit Coates goes into some detail about the ways we humans can connect to horses and what we can learn. I am not really a “horsey” person, but I have been moved again and again in the book to see the ability to “be” that we can learn from horses.

Here is a simple gem: "Horses spend no time at all worrying about not being a horse". We humans spend so much time in our minds wondering about our existence and our “true” nature. If we could but accept our natural being, we would have energy for so much in our lives that is currently wasted in the “doing” chatter of our minds.

If you get a chance have a read of this book.

    Forgiveness

I have been doing a bit of writing lately, prompted by many clients who tell me I should write down some of the lessons we discover together in our clinic work and at our workshops. I have had a powerful experience myself lately with forgiveness, and see again and again the importance of it in our lives. Though much has been said about forgiveness, I offer these thoughts for your consideration.

    Forgiveness

Forgiveness comes first in the lessons along the way of life because it seems to me to be the most important lesson of all. Without it there is heart ache, pain, ill-health, and a world full of war; with it the opportunity for liberation.

In the Christian tradition Jesus spoke so beautifully about the power of forgiveness and asked God to forgive even those who hung him on the cross. He included in that forgiveness the need to love even our enemies. Certainly we need to learn to forgive our enemies, but we must also forgive those we love, our friends, and ourselves.

When we are wronged, there is pain. Some of those wrongs are horrendous acts of war and injustice that seem to be unforgivable. Some wrongs, though small by comparison with the inhumanity of war, affect us deeply. Without forgiving those who wrong us we are burdened with the vibrations, the emotions, that lead to our own demise. Hatred, resentment, anger, revenge and the myriad other emotions that come with being wronged, are a burden our mind-body system cannot easily carry.

    Keeping Your New Year's Resolution
    Workshop

So far this year several clients have come to the clinic discouraged that their resolutions for this year are already in tatters, and they are struggling to maintain their hope. You won’t be surprised to know that studies show that most people struggle to maintain their resolutions.

My own experience is that so many of us set ourselves up for the “fall” by setting goals that are too hard, too far out in the future and fraught with difficulty. The syndrome many of us fall into is, "I will be happy when”. There is a great danger here that we postpone our satisfaction and happiness and place it out in the future where it may or may not occur. I think because I am a simple guy, I found a simple method for overcoming this syndrome. To feel satisfied and achieve our goals we must concentrate on what we are satisfied with in the present. This doesn’t mean to pretend that nothing is wrong, but rather to focus your attention on the simple and real things we experience in every moment. “I am grateful and satisfied with this great cup of coffee”, "I am very glad I have this air conditioning in my car”, "I am satisfied that I took this step towards my goal today”. In any given day, if you choose to look for what you are satisfied with, you will attract more satisfaction, attract the energy to achieve you goals, and surprise surprise, feel satisfied and grateful at the end of the day. Though not rocket science, this simple practice profoundly alters the focus of your mind and emotions. Don’t stop planning and making goals, but know that you will only reach them on the pathway of satisfaction, not the path of longing.

I have prepared a new one day workshop, the first of which will be on Sunday March 4th. The title is “Connecting – Staying Connected to Your Power Within”. In this day you will understand one pathway to connecting with your true self, how the subconscious mind is your friend, how you can alter your connection to your self and to others. This can be a life-changing experience.

Please book now. Cost: $175 including lunch, morning and afternoon tea, a workbook and two guided CD’s.
